Antique Lighting

Restoration • Sales • Reproductions

Michael Orchard has restored European and American lighting dating back to the late 1700’s. Great care is taken in the initial assessment of the restoration to insure the piece is conserved accurately and historically.

Back in 1977, when we started our restoration work, most projects were primarily polished to a high shine and lacquered. We still polish when appropriate, but most of our historic lighting is cleaned and a patina is applied. After hand working the finish to the desired lightness or darkness, lacquer is applied to seal in the desired finish.
